Published Authors

Kellen and Kai wrote short stories as part of their school (Classical Conversations Challenge B) this spring, and they also participated in an online short story class that helped them learn and understand all about writing and publishing their own stories. This class is offered by Cheryl Krichbaum on the site mybodymyworship.com. It has been a tremendous boon to our educational endeavors and she offers the opportunity for the students in the class to submit their story for publishing at the end of the year. 

Kellen and Kai both entered their stories into the contest.

And both won authorship in the collection of stories she will publish.

By the end of the year, both Kellen and Kai will be published authors. Yay!

"The T'tartatoct of Timbuck-Tooth"

The T’tartatock of Timbuck-Tooth by Kellen J. Burklund is a comedy and fantasy story set in a prairie and its neighboring mountain, Timbuck-Tooth. 6 prairies dog friends set out on a quest to free the mountain from the monstrous T’tartatoct so that it may harm no more. The author’s goal is to get the audience to think about friendship, families, and teamwork.

"Entry 2186"

Entry 2186 by Kai Burklund is a historical fiction story that takes place in the journal of Sergeant Thomas Sherman. In the journal, Thomas writes about joining the military against his father's wishes, and shares his experiences of fear, courage, and heroism, as he hopes to reform a relationship with his father. The author's goal is to get the audience to think about courage, heroism, and family relationships.
